Music for Viols and Friends 2017-18

Our 24th season of music for viola da gamba with some of its favorite ensemble partners, including flute, lutes, theorbo, bandora, cittern, guitars, percussion,
and that most perfect instrument of all, the voice.

    Mezzo-soprano Burcu Gulec & percussionist George Lernis join El Dorado Ensemble (Carol Lewis, Janet Haas, Paul Johnson, Mai-Lan Broekman & Alice Mroszczyk, viols; Olav Chris Henriksen, theorbo) for 17th-century Italian dances & florid music by Striggio, Kapsperger, Piccinini & Monteverdi.

    Flutist Na'ama Lion, viola da gambists Carol Lewis & James Williamson, lutenist Olav Chris Henriksen, bandora player Matthew Wright & cittern player Peter Lehman play ballad tunes, pavans & other novelties for broken consort by Allison, Morley, Dowland, Reade & John Johnson.
